Bodegas Ateca (D.O. Calatayud, Spain)
Winemaker – Michael Kyberd

enologist Michael Kyberd is the technical director.
The vineyard, planted in slate-based soils in the places of higher altitude of the area, consist of
small parcels of old Grenache vines (some of them, dated from the early 20th Century) and is
placed around the slopes of the Ateca Mountains and the bordering towns.
Honoro Vera 2013
One of only 8 Spanish wines that were chosen as part of the Wine Enthusiast Top
100 deals of 2013; it’s big, fresh and ready to drink. In the glass you’ll find a wine that is a
deep crimson color that is nearly opaque at its core. Blast of ripe red berry fruit aromas
with a mix of red currants, raspberry, and black cherry backed with pleasant minerally
notes. Intense red berries and tart fruit character followed w/a lush, inky finish.
Atteca Old Vines 2012
100% garnacha, Attleca Old Vine is bright
purple. Intensely floral bouquet offers scents
of black raspberry, lavender, Indian spices
and white pepper. Juicy dark berry flavors are
complicated by notes of candied flowers and
pepper and show no rough edges, long finish.
